ohn Hegner has recently emerged as an exciting new voice in Chicagoland's music scene. Working from his studio, Starbell Hatchery, in rural Woodstock, Illinois, his album has taken a number of years to complete in between many other musical projects. Now ready for release, "254" is an amazing blend of meaningful lyrics, hypnotic melodies, astounding musical hooks and smooth, dreamy vocals that will take you on a journey through love, faith, inspiration, reflection, life and beyond. His lyrics and melodies are peaceful and thoughtful, and his arrangements unique and lyrical. With a vocal style calling to mind James Blunt and Jim Brickman, a songwriting concept in the realm of Burt Bacharach and Randy Newman, Hegner commands the stage with a disarming grace distinctly his own. He has a history of performing at numerous venues on the New York City and Boston music scene.

Hegner began his journey in music with piano lessons at age 6 and composed his first song at age 12. He attended high school at the renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. John continued his musical training at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and Berklee College of Music in Boston. After college he accepted a position as staff composer at Editel/Boston, which was his introduction to music production and recording as well as scoring for film and television. He successfully ran John Hegner Music in NYC for ten years. John’s extensive background in music has given him the chance to work with commercial clients which include television stations, ad agencies and corporations. He now also uses his studio skills to produce and engineer recordings for talented artists wishing to realize their musical dreams.

John composed the score for the feature film, Macbeth in Manhattan, directed by Greg Lombardo, and for the short feature, Caught in Time, directed by Abigail Zealey-Bess.
